31 Days of Hope: Day 16 Power of One

Ephesians 4 4

Sometimes hope is a warm fuzzy feeling residing in our chest. Tangible. Weighty enough for us to hang onto.

And other times, it is a vapor. Barely there. Elusive.

In those other times, we can’t rely on our emotions but our convictions. In Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, he lays out the prescription for unity and maturity in the body of Christ. The conviction we hold onto whether we feel like it or not. In these verses, the power of one is laid out.

One body and Spirit.

One hope. One faith and baptism. One God.

Notably absent: our feelings and emotions. We don’t base our faith or hope on our shifting emotions and circumstances. Our confidence comes from believing in the power of one.
